Once upon a time, there was a man…

“Neither shall they say, ‘Lo, it is here!’ or ‘Lo, it is there!’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.” – Luke 17:21

Once upon a time, there was a man, nay, the eternal spirit of love in a human body, and he walked upon the earth, and by walking with us, showed us what was possible here and hereafter. Because humans have little faith in this miracle here and now that we witness and live with in every breath, the eternal spirit of love healed sons, daughters, mothers, lepers, the blind, the deaf, the paralyzed, the evil, and even raised the dead and walked on water to help us believe in the miracle and to see that his teachings were real. Even with all these miracles, people found his teachings too difficult to practice. To forgive another of sin, to love another, seemed so simple and revealed such great power, but the people found it too difficult to practice. Following strict observances to tradition and written words, even his followers fell prey to pretensions and hypocrisy. But the eternal spirit of love has never abandon us and he lives with us today. When he came thousands of years ago, he associated with those who needed him the most, and today he still visits those who follow his lead. In following his lead we find love and healing. Today he lives with those who love the ones who need him the most. When he returns, as it was before, he will defy our expectations, and love those who need him the most.
